For many candidates, the section entitled “Issues” is the most difficult, requiring the use of several consultants to “concoct” a platform of ideas that have led to others being elected. For us we need no consultants to tell us what are the issues that all of us in Assembly District 1 face every day. We learn from our past experience and talking to OUR neighbors.

As a wise family member once told me, you are the product of all your experiences. So I have taken the experiences from having been married for fifteen years to a doctor who now serves his country by working as a primary care physician for the Veterans Administration. Being the holder of a teaching certificate has helped me with understanding that it is what children learn, not what we spend. Watching our children grow, we constantly learn the perils they face, and how do we provide the tools so they can learn to thrive on their own.

Being involved in real estate, I have gained knowledge that helps me to understand that there is common ground between developers and residents. Learning that there is not an adversarial relationship between us which would prevent us from achieving the highest quality of life has inspired much of our legislation.

Through the eyes of others, including a young professional baseball player, I have learned to appreciate my partner in legislation, my brother. He will tell you he is no more special than any other Vietnam Veteran, but he has taught not only the true price of freedom, but also its absolute value. All of OUR legislation, to which we will link, will demonstrate why this great nation is worth fighting for.  Through the words of others, I have learned why we both feel so blessed, to have the privilege to author & pass more legislation, over several sessions, than virtually any other legislator (except for a few committee chairs), while not being a member. Having been in a wheelchair for a short time, I learned to understand the smile on my brother’s face, as he, permanently confined to a wheelchair due his service to OUR country, traversed the halls of OUR state legislature for us to continue the fight for freedom side by side in our motorized substitute legs.

Having been the President of the Northwest Area Residents Association and member of the Master Plan 2020 Citizen Advisory committee, I learned why I must challenge my opponent in OUR Assembly District. Our state belongs to all of us & we must fight anyone who attempts to steal our constitutional rights as she did in the last legislative session with Assembly Bill 165.

In our district, the North Las Vegas Airport had been rated the most dangerous airport in the United States. Utilizing my experience as a licensed pilot, we were able to form Not Tonight, North Las Vegas Airport Gave Me A Headache, uniting pilots, residents, and all users of the facilities to start reversing the trend. We were also the only ones who proposed legislation to guarantee safety for both the users of the airport & the residents who surround it.

Both my brother and I possess the skill to unite people for the good of our state, and our country, regardless of any partisan interest, and have offered to risk life and limb, a fact not lost on the partnership with us manifested by US Senator Max Cleland campaigning with my brother.
